Chen Zhi and Prince Group

Neak Oknha Chen Zhi is the chairman of Prince Holding Group ("Prince Group"), one of Cambodia's largest and fastest growing business enterprises, but he is surprisingly not very known in the public eye.

Despite his extensive business interests in Cambodia, Chen Zhi of Prince Group appears to be keeping a low profile, save for an official Twitter and LinkedIn account, which are most likely managed by his minders.

Chen Zhi's official profiles:

Chen Zhi is of Chinese descent and later naturalised as a Cambodian citizen. In 2010, he visited Cambodia and met with Prime Minister Hun Sen.

One of the subsidiaries under his Prince Group, Prince Real Estate, has resulted in the creation of numerous projects in many parts in Cambodia. These projects include: Prince Plaza Center, Prince Modern Plaza, Prince IT Building, and Prince City Center, to name a few. These projects are expected to be completed soon.

Belt Road Capital Management, Prince Bank, Cambodia Airways, Prince Supermarket, Awesome Global Investment Group, and Canopy Sands Development are also some of the more notable business divisions under Prince Group.

He is not only interested in business, but also in philanthropy.

Chen Zhi's year of philanthropy in Cambodian society was last year. He had pledged to contribute $3 million to help Cambodia purchase one million COVID-19 vaccines.

When the floods struck Cambodia, Chen Zhi stepped in to assist the victims.

He made a generous contribution to the establishment of the Prince Horology Vocational Training Center, which provides full and partial scholarships to deserving Cambodian students.

Neak Oknha Chen Zhi seems to be very passionate about luxury watches, and he wishes for Cambodian-made watches to compete with those made in Switzerland and Japan.

Chen Zhi's arrival in Cambodia

What brought Chen Zhi to Cambodia? He has the ability to form relationships with people from all walks of life. Because of his real estate experience and contacts, he is able to get involved in large-scale development projects. His connections and network may have aided him in this area.

Though Chen Zhi prefers to stay out of the spotlight and works more behind the scenes, his presence can be acutely felt in the activities carried out by the Prince Charitable Foundation, the charity arm of Prince Group. Over a span of a few years, more than 240 charity events have been organised. One can even say that outside the group’s core business of banking, aviation, retail, and real estate development, the charity arm is probably the busiest unit of the entire group.

Chen Zhi and the Group are always involved in creating more employment opportunities for Cambodians, through the large-scale projects that the group embarks on all the time. One such project is Ream City in Sihanoukville, a $16 billion mega project that will see the construction of a brand new city over 834 hectares of reclaimed coastal land.

Ream City will have the typical features of a settled city, such as malls, hospitals, landed homes, hotels, restaurants, coastal resorts, beach houses, beaches, and so on.

With so much growth happening in a relatively short time, it won’t be surprising that Chen Zhi will become a household name in Cambodia in no time.
